Last year, I had the opportunity to study abroad for one semester at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Tsinghua University is one of the top ranked universities in China. Having grown up in China, I am just like other millions of Chinese high school students, Tsinghua has always been my dream university.

The academic experience in Tsinghua is an unforgettable experience for me. The classes were so interesting. I was able to work along with both local and international students, and this enabled me to view the field of economics from an international and different perspective. I also attended the regular guest speeches organised by the School of Economics in Tsinghua. I am so grateful for those speeches delivered by the world famous entrepreneurs. I have learned so much beyond the classroom.

Mostly importantly, I was fortunate enough to make lots of friends, both local and international during my exchange. All local students are very open-minded and very easy to make friends with. I learned a great deal about their lives, students in the Mainland China lead different lives compared to those in Australia. As an exchange student, I was also lucky to have some free time to explore the city with my newly made friends. We climbed the Great Wall, visited the Forbidden City and some of the cool bars at Wudaokou... All these memories were so valuable because of these incredible friends I hang out with. I have bonded with many of them so closely that we are still keeping regular contact today.

My semester in China was definitely an experience that I will never forget. Thanks to the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Awards for supporting me to have such an eye-opening adventure. There is no better opportunity than this to enhance myself academically and experience the essence of a different culture.
