CHUNG Kwun Hin

Student of City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Exchange to the University of Adelaide, Australia

The experience I had in Adelaide was one of the most unforgettable ones in my life. I spent a semester in the University of Adelaide from February 2018 to June 2018. What I knew about the place before going to Australia was that there are beautiful beaches and a huge variety of animals. Now I know that it is pretty true!

It was not the first time for me to leave home for study or for a work experience programme, but it was probably the longest time I was away from Hong Kong. The atmosphere I felt in Adelaide was very different from Hong Kong as Adelaide was obviously more peaceful and people were not as rush as the Hong Kong guys. When I finished class, I would have coffee with my friends in a cozy cafe near Rundle Street and we really had a nice time. To be honest, I seldom have the luxury of going into a cafe for a deep, long chat in Hong Kong.

I was very grateful that I had the opportunity to meet a lot of friends from different cultural background, such as Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Australian, British, Italian and Mongolian. By chatting and spending time with them, I had a better understanding of their culture. During my stay, I was glad that the university helped us a lot in settling down in Adelaide, which was very helpful!

During this four-month period, I travelled to various places in Australia, for example, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and my favourite spot, Tasmania! During my excursion, I saw a lot of wildlife and they were just so cute! I got the chance to see a koala which was not sleeping. I grasped the chance immediately to take a picture with it. Sandboarding is another nice activity I had when I was in Moreton Island. I took a long way up the little sand hill and made my glide! It was not as easy as I watched others doing that. It took me quite a bit of time to practise and it was so much fun!

To conclude, I would say this experience is a memorable one and I would like to thank Cheung Kong Group and City University of Hong Kong for their support!
