It took me some time to understand Hong Kong. During my first month of arrival, I felt there was nothing particularly special about the region. But as I observed more, I realised that the people here are very hard working, in both study and work scenarios, I found myself more fond and appreciative of their highly productive culture.

Whenever you are in Hong Kong, even well into the night you will find it still bustling. Two elements that would not be familiar for Australians are Hong Kong's high population density and extremely well integrated public transportation system, in which the MTR system plays the key role. It is standard for most places to close at 10pm, which allows you to get more done in a day. With both the people and system geared towards productivity, I found that the concept of work-life balance is particularly appealing to the younger generation in Hong Kong, they are eager to proceed with their career and personal ambitions at the same time.

Looking forward, my overseas experience has made me more focused about my own ambitions. My exchange experience was full of fun and it was also very fulfilling on a personal level.

It was incredibly enriching for me to explore Hong Kong and its youth culture, and meeting people from different walks of life and from different parts of the globe. Through these experiences, you are able to discover what you enjoy and what you dislike. You gained a perspective that allows you to better reflect on where you want to be in the future. As a graduate, I am now more certain about the career path and view relocation as an opportunity rather than a barrier. What was once a foreign environment to me is now somewhere I can be at ease, as if it were my second home. And through this training abroad, I have found confidence in my ability to achieve my personal goals.
