Ying ZHU

Student of Yangzhou University, China
Exchange to Charles Sturt University, Australia

My name is Ying, Zhu, a Chinese girl now studying at Yangzhou University. I got a precious chance to study in Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga) as an exchange student for one semester last year, and majored in International Business. I am now still very grateful for this chance and the scholarship.

It was my first time being and studying abroad, and I was quite excited and even felt depressed when I had to go back to China. Wagga Wagga is a peaceful town in New South Wales, and quite suitable for students to study. Every day, I could enjoy the beautiful sunshine and walk together with kangaroos.

Talking to my study, I found that learning was pretty different with what it is in China. I only had four lectures each week, which seemed to be much easier than learning in China. However, every two weeks, I had assignments or online quiz which took up 50% of my final examination, so almost every day I was surrounded by deadlines, which forced me to read references and gave me a chance to improve my English learning comprehensively. At the same time, thanks a lot to my lecturers who always show their patience to me, no matter how simple my questions were.

I also went on a trip to Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland during the mid-term break and was deeply touched by the breathtaking scenery as well as people's kindness. Sydney and Melbourne are two prosperous cities with colorful cultures, as I could find people with different colors of skin work and live together in these cities. Besides, the most fantastic part of my trip was my 3-day-off in Queensland because it gave me the chance to have access to my favorite animal, koala.

Thanks again for the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Awards, one semester's studying in Australia helped me learn about the gorgeous country. I love Australia and now I am pursuing my master's degree, so I hope I could have the opportunity to get in touch with this lovely country again.
