I’m studying Bachelor of Arts with the degree of Bachelor of Commerce and I’m in my final year. I thrive in variety and change, and because I love new challenges, cultures and learning new things, I studied abroad in China on the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Awards and Macquarie University’s International Mobility Scholarship Scheme.

I really enjoy learning languages and have studied Japanese for six years in high school before deciding to learn Chinese at university in order to further explore my Chinese background. Going on exchange and studying at Fudan University provided me with a unique opportunity to be immersed in the language and apply what I have learnt at Macquarie University in a different learning environment. As one of the top universities in China, I greatly benefited from studying in the highly reputable International Cultural Exchange School specialising in providing language programs for international students at Fudan University.

Speaking a new language and living in a new culture has not only deepened my appreciation of the Chinese culture, but also working with individuals from various backgrounds has given me the opportunity to develop my strong leadership and language skills. Studying overseas has brought exciting opportunities through living independently and being exposed to a different culture and lifestyle. The exchange experience has taught me to appreciate and embrace different cultures and has played an important role in shaping and influencing who I am today. I definitely recommend the Exchange Program to students and I believe this experience has assisted me in securing a position in the KPMG Audit Vacation Program and subsequent graduate offer.

I would like to thank the Cheung Kong Group and the Australian Government for their support in providing me with many opportunities to learn and understand the language and culture of China through the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Awards. I would also like to thank my family, friends and Macquarie University for their support to go on exchange.
