Student of Griffith University, Australia
Exchange to Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong

Hong Kong - just GO! It・s very hard to sum up the best five months of my life, but I・ll give it a try. If you have even slightly considered going to study overseas and have thought about Hong Kong as an option, then fill in the forms and hope that you are lucky enough to get accepted. Spending the first semester of 2009 in Hong Kong as part of my degree was one of the best decisions I have made and I am very thankful for the scholarship from the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Student Exchange Programme.

After returning to Australia from a previous short-term exchange programme in Hong Kong, I instantly wanted to return. There is just so much to do and never a dull moment. Whether it・s enjoying a boat party with 30 others, hiking one of the many mountains in the area, bungee jumping in Macau, exploring the surrounding islands or enjoying a drink at the Peak overlooking HK, there is always something to do. With the programme, I was not only able to gain credit towards my degree in Australia, but able to experience another culture and have a lot of fun at the same time.

My journey in Hong Kong started in January, after traveling through South East Asia for 6 weeks, a great experience in itself. But once arriving back in Hong Kong, I felt at home.

You will meet some great people while in Hong Kong. From locals to other international students, you will find someone you get on with. I am still in regular contact with a lot of the friends I made and look forward to catching up with them again overseas or when they make their way to Australia.

I would not recommend cooking, since food is really cheap and there are so many new things to try. Once you get to know the locals, they will take you to a lot of the best places to eat. I didn・t end up cooking once, as it was so cheap not to. Whatever you are in the mood for, you can find it in HK. There are some great Korean, Japanese, Thai and Mexican restaurants here. Whether it・s an all-American Breakfast, dim sum or sushi, you can get it anytime in HK.

Depending on your timetable, you will be able to go away for week trips during the semester and during the mid-semester break. I was lucky enough to go to the Philippines for a week, spend Easter in Shenzhen, and go on a trip through Mainland China seeing the Great Wall, eating scorpions and hiking through .Tiger Leaping Gorge・.

Hong Kong now feels like my second home, and since graduating I have done everything in my power to return to work and live there. I have been lucky enough to get a job and am returning to Hong Kong soon. I would definitely recommend going, it will be an experience that will change you and one that you will remember forever.
