Andy Ho-Fai Choi University of Technology, Sydney, Australia In 2010, after speaking to Professor Besim Ben-Nissan, my Ph.D. supervisor and a great mentor, I applied for the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowship to spend six months from February to July 2011 at the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Dentistry¡¯s Dental Materials Science Unit with Professor Jukka Matinlinna. My time spent in Hong Kong was definitely outstanding and rewarding, both professionally and personally, and has opened a few doors for me. Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you to the Awards, to Professor Matinlinna and the staff at the Faculty of Dentistry for kindly accepting me as an honorary staff member. During my visit, I was able to publish a number of papers alongside my HKU counterparts and attend conferences to present my work in Hong Kong. I was also given the great privilege of showcasing my research and finite element analysis to the students studying dentistry on the faculty. On a personal level, being born and raised in Hong Kong till the age of 11, this six-month stay has been the longest time I have spent in the territory since childhood and has brought back a lot of fond memories. Whilst living there, I was able to make new friends and networks both within and outside the university. I am deeply grateful to have been awarded an Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowship. I strongly encourage future applicants to apply, as this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and this experience has definitely broadened my horizons and vision.
