The Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong Kong
Exchange to University of Canberra, Australia

In January 2008, I was chosen by the international office of my school to go to Canberra. I want to thank the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Scholarship Programme wholeheartedly for their financial support. I studied at the University of Canberra as an exchange student. That period was a brilliant experience for me and I shared unforgettable memories with my friends. I met a lot of international students. They came from all over the world including Australia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Brunei and Mexico. We met each other because we shared the same accommodations. We shared our daily lives and studied together. We organised many activities such as sailing, Canberra tours, bushwalking and parties.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to some special friends who helped me have a wonderful study trip:

Thank you for being so welcoming. Sailing was the first outing of many to come. I guess the sailing trip was the beginning of our friendship. You guys invited me to join the trip and it was the first time I ever had to steer a sailing boat. We had delicious pizzas and nachos for lunch and later on we celebrated Canberra Day and saw the fireworks near Lake Burley Griffin. We went everywhere in Canberra including the Canberra Centre, Telstra Tower, National Museum, Parliament House and the glass factory. We had great fun and took a lot of pictures.

Thank you for always being supportive. I still remember those days when I went to your room to study. You were doing your architecture model and I was studying globalisation. We ended up spending hours talking about politics, education, economics and social issues. You awoke this ˇ§curiosity about the worldˇ¨ side of me. Thank you for being so caring. Thank you for constantly sharing food with me - chips, garlic bread, cakes, pizzas and candies. Thank you for the week you guys took care of me when I was sick. Thank you for being friends with me. We shared a lot of great moments.

Furthermore, I loved the environment in Australia. I saw kangaroos inside my campus. Lake Ginninderra was a two-minute walk from my rooms. There were many black and white swans and surrounding the campus were trees and animals. You canˇ¦t enjoy such natural scenery and tranquillity in Hong Kong. During the semester break and at the end of the semester, I visited Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. These places have many picturesque scenic spots and are quite different from Canberra. They are more like Hong Kong. They have more people and visitors, especially in Chinatown. I am sure I wonˇ¦t forget the people and the natural beauty of Australia. Without the support of the Cheung Kong Scholarship, I wouldnˇ¦t have had such unique experiences.
