Lin Hui, Helen

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Exchange to Griffith University, Australia

My exchange to Griffith University, which is located in the Sunshine State of Queensland, gave me a wonderful opportunity to work with many world-famous professors, to communicate with the friendly Australian people and experience their relaxed lifestyle, all of which not only broadened my academic horizons, improved exploration of my research project, but also enriched my insights into western culture from a multi-cultural perspective. Life in Australia is exciting and rewarding.

Looking back at the fast-passing days as an exchange student in Australia, I can still remember the exact exciting moment when I first saw this beautiful island on the flight, getting closer and closer to it ¡X the frightening experience of getting lost on the way back to my residence, the inspired mind after talking with my supervisor and many other countless Australian memories. I am sure that my experience in Australia will have a very profound influence on my future life.

Australia is totally different from Hong Kong in many ways. Being a city not as crowded as Hong Kong, which is always surrounded by compact buildings and busy traveling people, Brisbane is so spacious. People here have a very good balance between work and life, enjoying quite a lot of time with their families.

Australia is such an international country that I was able to communicate with people from all over the world and enjoy the mix of cultures. We toured around the city seeing the magnificent Story Bridge, basked under the warm sunshine at New Farm Park, and enjoyed an Aussie BBQ near the beautiful Brisbane River. Being involved in a mass global network is incredibly exciting and an experience that I will treasure forever.

My 5-month stay in Australia has been really fruitful and rewarding. I was afforded a quiet and amazing study atmosphere where I was able to concentrate on my study and my research work. I would like to thank my supervisor Professor Kin-Che Lam and Professor Lex Brown, without whom I would not have gained such a precious exchange opportunity and reached so far in my research career.

Finally and most importantly, I would sincerely thank the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Scholarship for providing me such a great chance to experience the true Australia, which will definitely influence my future career and life. I appreciate it greatly.
