It was winter when I arrived in Adelaide in July. The wind was really chilly, but it improved and the weather was really fantastic in the next few months. Then came the summer and it was very enjoyable to spend time on the beaches. I didn¡¦t find a lot of time to travel, but still, I enjoyed visiting places like Victor Harbour, Glenelg and other beaches, Monarto Zoo and the Adelaide hills.

The city of Adelaide is pretty small, but I got everything I required. Moreover as a cricket lover, the Bradman collections on the North Terrace really attracted me and it was really exciting to see the bats, balls, pads, caps used by the legend. Before going to Adelaide, I thought that cricket would be the most popular game over there, but I was wrong. The whole nation is so crazy about footy - it was amazing. Another interesting place in the city was the museum, where I found a nice exhibition on the things used by aboriginal people.

I stayed in Torrens Valley International Residence, Modbury with other friends from Australia, Europe and Asia. It was near Tea Tree Plaza, one of the largest shopping malls in the Adelaide suburbs. We would cook food together, watch movies in cinema halls and go out clubbing. How can I forget about the soccer matches we used to play on the weekends, or the barbecues?

There was a mammoth Chinese population in Australia and in the market there were so many Chinese products. There were some nice Chinese restaurants in the central market of the city where the food was cheap but not to my taste. I much preferred the Italian cuisines.

I had a nice group of people from my state and we were like a family. We would organize cultural programmes where lots of people participated in music, dance, drama etc. We celebrated our biggest festival Durga puja in a grand way and I would not have believed, not even for a single day, that I was so far from my home. My friends made my stay so beautiful, and of course I liked the attitude of the Australians. They are really friendly and modest.
